解説

大阪府枚方市生まれ。江戸時代に大阪の十三村で窯を起こした吉向焼の七代目。江戸時代、将軍家に鶴と亀の食籠を献上したところ、その亀の食籠が気に入られ、亀甲＝吉向の窯号を賜り、吉向姓を名乗るようになった。現在は交野に工房がある。

Born in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture. The seventh generation of the Kikko ware, which started in the Edo period in the thirteen villages of Osaka. When an ancestor presented a crane and turtle-shaped food basket to the Shogun, the turtle basket was favored, leading to the bestowal of the "Kikko" (tortoise shell) kiln name and the Yoshikata family name. Currently, his workshop is in Katano, Osaka Prefecture.
