名古屋生まれ。京都の名刹、真如堂の僧侶でもあった｡1950～1960年代にかけては、素朴な心象風景、1960～1970年代には、欧米の現代美術の影響を受けた激しい筆触と厚塗りによる作風へと変化する。東洋と西洋とが交錯した絵画。

Born in Nagoya. He was also a monk at the famous temple Shinnyodo in Kyoto. From the 1950s to the 1960s, he painted naive mindscapes, and from the 1960s to the 1970s, his style shifted to vigorous brushwork and thick painting under the influence of contemporary art from Europe and America. His paintings are a crossroads of Eastern and Western styles.
