京都府生まれ。1950年にパンリアル美術協会(※)に入り、戦後日本画の革新の一翼を担う。57年の朝日新人展で注目され、60年代には、スレート、セメント、陶片、板、煙突の破片などを貼りつけた「断片」シリーズを制作した。

Born in Kyoto Prefecture. Joined the Panreal Art Association(※) in 1950, playing a role in the innovation of post-war Japanese painting. Gained attention at the Asahi Shinbun Newcomers Exhibition in 1957, and in the 1960s, created the "Fragment" series, which incorporated slate, cement, ceramic shards, boards, and fragments of chimneys.
